Responsible for coordination of tank construction on combined cycle and simple cycle power generation projects, including reviewing projects from start to completion and supporting bids and proposals. Key Responsibilities
Provides site construction teams with the means, methods, and staffing to support construction of field-erected and shop-fabricated tanks on combined cycle and simple cycle power generation projects, including fuel oil, fire water, demineralized water, service water, wastewater, and other balance-of-plant tanks. Helps lead bids and proposals. Works with the EH&S group to develop and maintain safety programs associated with tank construction activities. Develops craft training and certification programs for tank construction trades supporting open-shop craft employees. Develops and maintains construction procedures and quality programs associated with tank construction, including foundation readiness, material receiving, plate erection, welding, coatings or linings, inspection, testing, and turnover. Identifies and supports the sourcing of tooling and equipment necessary for tank installation and erection. Supports tank construction proposals, including development of staffing, equipment, and other direct and indirect quantities and costs to support estimate development. Leads and participates in design constructability reviews, with attention to tank foundations, access, lifting and erection sequencing, piping and electrical interfaces, testing, and turnover requirements. Supports subcontract development for projects as needed. Actively participates in project risk reviews, including identifying and developing mitigation plans associated with tank construction. Assists the site team in resolving problems and reports on issues related to drawings and information, schedule, quality, quantity tracking, cost reporting, safety, material availability, welding, coatings, testing, and system interfaces. Monitors tank construction productivity, progress, and cost, and reports to the Operations Manager, Construction Manager, and Project Controls Manager. Verifies that all equipment, materials, manpower, and resources needed to support the project schedule are available and on site. Develops a stable working relationship with the client and assigned tank subcontractor(s). Develops and distributes a Job Hazard Analysis for major tank erection packages within scope. Adheres to safety and quality standards as applicable to duties and accountabilities. Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
Direct-hire, open-shop tank construction experience on combined cycle, simple cycle, power generation, or comparable heavy industrial projects is required. Field tank experience is preferred. A bachelor's degree in construction or engineering and tank craft experience at the superintendent level or above are preferred. 3+ years of experience at Construction Manager level or above is preferred. Knowledge of tank foundations, plate, welding, coatings and linings, inspection, hydrostatic testing, turnover, and balance-of-plant interfaces is preferred. Risk assessment and management. Leadership ability, including team building, coaching, mentoring, change management, and advising. Multi-tasking ability, including prioritizing, organizing, and scheduling work. Presentation skills. Bilingual Spanish-speaking ability is preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in construction or heavy industrial experience preferred, or relevant experience. 3+ years of construction management experience.
