Location: Washington, DC

Overview

A leading national advisory, tax and assurance firm is seeking a Tax Manager for its Washington, DC office to deliver tax compliance and business advisory services to small business clients. You will work side-by-side with firm leadership to serve clients and build the business, and coach a group of talented staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and provide tax, accounting and advisory services to small business clients, including bookkeeping and prepared or compiled financials
• Review and analyze client accounting records and reporting, and consult with clients on accounting and business matters
• Lead and plan client engagements and identify process efficiencies and internal control issues
• Manage and build client relationships and help identify additional services for clients
• Delegate and oversee work by setting goals, providing resources and scheduling deadlines
• Maintain current knowledge of local, state and federal tax law
• Assist with engagement staffing, billing and collections and help meet profitability targets
• Network and build relationships internally and externally, and support the growth of team members

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; master's or advanced degree desirable
• CPA or JD required
• 5+ years of federal and state tax compliance, accounting and advisory experience in a professional services firm
• 2+ years of supervisory experience mentoring and counseling associates
• Strong management, analytical, organizational, project management and communication skills
