Perform various duties to provide students withappropriate learningactivities and experiences to help them develop their full potential in areas of language, literacy, social-emotional, physical, and mathematics.
Head Start providestheeducation staff with peer andintensivecoaching, tuition reimbursement, training,professionaldevelopment,and wellnessopportunities.
Examples of Duties for Success
- Develop, prepare, and implement daily, weekly, and monthly instructional activitiesin accordance withHead Start Program Performance Standards, program goals, school readiness goals, and other program requirements, while considering the individual needs and skill levels of the children.
- Provide instruction to children involved in various classroom activities, including educational programs to develop childrens growth in socio-emotional, motor, cognitive, language, health, and personal hygiene skills, usingdevelopmentappropriateactivities, best practices, and positive discipline practices.
- Observe, record, and evaluate each childs activity, performance, behavior, and development; accommodate andmodifyindividual activities based on developmental needs or behavior.
- Utilize various screening tools to assess children in all areas of development, then use the outcomes to create individual learning activities that support childrens learning.
- Adapt and implement behavior plans and Individualize Education Plan to meet the goals andobjectivesof each child receiving consultation or special education services. Attend and provide adequate information during Individualize Education Plan and behavior plan meetings for the individual child.
- Implementand support efforts that help individuals understanddifferences, appreciate various perspectives, and work effectively together in educational settings.
- Responsible for fully understanding and intentionally implementing active supervision practices consistently throughout the day.
- Attend andparticipatein staff meetings, workshops, formal classes, in-service training, and program events to continually advance teaching skills and knowledge.
- Participatingin professional development opportunities and education coaching to enhance skills andprofessional practices.
- Ensure andmaintaina healthy, safe, clean, and organized classroom environment. Direct classroomteam(assistant teacher and classroom aide)to supportwithdaily operations, including completing and monitoring health, meals, and attendance logs.

More Qualifications for Success
Experience: Two (2) years of experience in early childhood education/preschool setting.
Education Requirements:
Head Start Teachers must meet one of the following qualifications:
- Associate of Arts degree with significant coursework in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Or a bachelor's or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, with major coursework in early childhood education.
- Completion of Early Childhood Education coursework (ECE 101, 102, 103, 210, 238, 262, and 260), with all coursework clearly documented on official transcripts.
License or Certificate:?
Valid Colorado Drivers License and Proof of vehicle insurance?
A Motor Vehicle record check will be conducted
Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification
Ability to obtain medication administration certificate
Ability to obtain Interrater Reliability Certification
