Teacher

Position Summary:

Follows curriculum to provide appropriate classroom learning experience and maintains positive relationships with children and parents.Key Responsibilities:

• Creates an environment that supports children's growth and development.

• Uses the curriculum to provide weekly plans and objectives which meet individual as well as group needs.

• Maintains accurate individual records for each child and uses them to set goals for individual children.

• Establishes and achieves annual goals for classroom.

• Ensures the safety of the children and promotes good health habits.

• Effectively guides children's behavior in an age appropriate and positive manner.

• Develops and maintains a positive relationship with all children and their families.

• Communicates appropriately with families regarding childrens daily activities verbally and written as needed.

• Supervises and guides assistant teachers and volunteers and makes appropriate recommendations for performance appraisals.

• Constructively participates in staff meetings, and meetings with supervisor.

• Meets the physical, social, cognitive, emotional and cultural needs of individual children.

• Attends a minimum of 15 hours of training each year.

• Conferences with parents effectively and appropriately.

• Works with colleagues and community representatives to support children and families.

Minimum Qualifications:

Teacher for preschoolersAssociates or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Development or related fieldANDno additional experience necessaryORChild Development Associate credential or other office recognized credential specific to the preschool developmental periodANDone year experience related to caring for childrenOR9 college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or related field with a plan of study leading to a:Child Development Associate credentialORAssociates Degree in Early Childhood,Child Development or a related fieldANDTwo years experience related to caring for childrenGroup Teacher for infants/toddlersAssociates or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or related fieldANDOne year experience related to caring for infants and toddlersORInfant and Toddler Child Care and Education credential; orInfant Toddler Child Development Associate credential; orOther Office-recognized credential specific to the infant/toddler developmental periodANDTwo years’ experience related to caring for childrenOR9 college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field, with a plan of study leading to:Infant and Toddler Child Care and Education credential; orInfant Toddler Child Development Associate credential; orOther office recognized credential specific to the infant/toddler developmental period; orAssociate’s Degree in Early Childhood Child Development or a related fieldANDTwo years’ experience related to caring for children, one of which must be related to caring for infants and toddlersGroup Teacher for school-age childrenAssociates degree or Bachelor’s in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education,Recreation or a related fieldANDNo additional experience requiredORSchool-age Child Care credential or other Office recognized credential specific to the school-age developmental periodANDOne year experience working with children less than 13 years of ageORHigh School Diploma or its equivalentANDTwo years direct experience working with children less than 13 years of ageRequired Licensure/Certification Skills:None.Rochester Regional Health System is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action Employer.
