The UNM-Valencia Campus Upward Bound Program is taking applications for Teacher, Pre-College Programs (multiple positions). This is a grant-funded, on-call position. This position oversees certain day-to-day aspects of the Upward Bound Program including but not limited to tutoring, leading workshops, teaching, and executing college preparation/academic lessons for high school students. This person will assist with tutoring and instructing during the Academic Year. This position provides support in language arts or other pre-college disciplines at area high schools and at UNM-Valencia Campus; Practices various pedagogical practices to enhance student academic progress as well as gain the skills necessary to transition from high school to higher education; Supports and engages students in college preparatory topics; Documents student progress, attendance, and other student tracking tasks.
Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico which functions as a community college in the region and is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs, technical vocational programs, Adult Basic Education, and Dual Credit High School/College courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties.
