The Division of Dental Hygiene is providing this opportunity to Masters level Dental Hygiene students so that they can receive academic leadership experience and gain a better understanding of the daily activities of Dental Hygiene faculty members and their role in academia.

A student in this position is expected to commit time and energy to completing all assigned tasks. The position's time commitment will be determined each semester depending on the student's available time and the division's available work.

The responsibilities of the graduate teaching assistant will vary. General responsibilities and activities of a graduate assistant may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Participate in lecture, laboratory, or clinical sessions
• Prepare in advance instructional materials for assigned lectures, labs, or clinics (e.g., lecture outline, objectives, grading criteria, lecture preparation, handouts, test questions, etc.)
• Assist in the design, implementation, supervision and evaluation of student rotations
• Assist in the preparation for OSCEs, and competency examinations
• Evaluate student performance
• Tutor students
• Grade student papers and/or assignments
• Design units of instruction or power point presentations and participate in the presentation of in-service seminars
• Conduct library research for faculty
• Substitute for instructors as circumstances necessitate
• Assist with clerical duties
• Participate in admissions procedures including tours, interviews and correspondence

This position is only reviewing applications of MSDH students who are licensed to practice dental hygiene in MN.

• Bachelors Degree in Dental Hygiene

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $28.93/hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Student workers are eligible to participate in the Student Health Benefit Plan, if they maintain 6 or more eligible course credits within a given semester. The same applies for Undergraduate Students, Graduate Assistants, Residents, Fellows and Interns.
