Tech 2, Microbiology Development - Contractor

Location: Franklin Lakes, NJ | On-site | $44.45/hr | 12-8pm (Some weekends required)

About the Role

Join a dynamic microbiology development team as a Tech 2, performing critical laboratory testing on medical device products and raw materials. As a vital contributor, you will work on-site in a state-of-the-art BioSafety Level-2 (BSL-2) facility, ensuring product safety and regulatory compliance. This role offers hands-on experience with industry-standard protocols and the opportunity to advance your laboratory career in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Execute a variety of USP, ASTM, ISO, and CLSI-based microbiological tests, including time-kill assays, MIC/MBC, sterility, microbial limits, and bioburden studies
• Conduct all testing under Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) within a BSL-2 laboratory following strict SOPs
• Support equipment qualification, validation, and routine calibrations
• Maintain meticulous laboratory notebooks in accordance with Good Documentation Practice (GDP)
• Work both independently and as part of a team, proactively managing projects and tasks with minimal oversight
• Ensure compliance with GLP and safety protocols while handling biological materials and biohazardous waste

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biological Sciences, or Chemistry
• At least 1 year of laboratory experience in microbiology or a related industry
• Demonstrated proficiency working in a BSL-2 laboratory environment
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work effectively with limited guidance
• Comfortable working extended hours at the bench, standing or sitting, and lifting up to 25 lbs

Preferred Skills

• Experience conducting microbiology testing in a GXP-compliant laboratory
• Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for data management
