    Description

    Tech Lead / Solution Architect

    Location: 5 days onsite at Freddie Mac, McLean, VA


    Job Summary:

     

    Freddie Mac’s Multifamily Division is seeking a hands-on Tech Lead / Solution Architect to drive the design and delivery of robust, scalable, and secure technology solutions. This individual will lead architectural initiatives, define and implement architecture patterns, and guide development teams in delivering modern cloud-native solutions aligned with enterprise goals. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in the mortgage industry, experience in enterprise transformation, and deep expertise across modern technologies and architectural best practices.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

     

    Lead the architectural design and technical direction for large-scale enterprise applications within the Multifamily division.

    Define and implement solution and security architecture patterns aligned with business goals.

    Design and guide implementation of cloud-native, microservices-based architectures, including 12-factor applications and micro-frontends.

    Partner with cross-functional teams to establish scalable data and integration patterns.

    Serve as a technical mentor and leader to development and architecture teams.

    Drive enterprise-wide technology modernization and transformation initiatives.

    Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

    Provide architectural oversight across the software development lifecycle.

    Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards and industry best practices.

    Required Qualifications:

     

    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience); Advanced degree preferred.

    10+ years of relevant experience in software development, architecture, and technical leadership.

    5+ years leading large-scale enterprise transformation initiatives.

    Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Python/PySpark, PostgreSQL, AWS, MongoDB.

    Deep understanding of solution architecture, data architecture, and security architecture patterns.

    Prior experience designing and implementing microservices architectures and cloud-native solutions.

    Proven background in business application development and task management.

    Familiarity with industry-standard platforms and enterprise technologies.

    Strong background or working knowledge of the primary or secondary mortgage industry.

    Preferred Qualifications:



    Requirements

    Experience working in or with GSEs, banks, or other financial institutions.

    Expertise in implementing architecture strategies in compliance-heavy environments.

    Experience with modern DevOps, CI/CD, and containerization tools.

    Familiarity with emerging technology trends in the financial and real estate sectors.
