Technical Advisor, Medical Device Testing - Biocompatibility & Chemistry

Your Tasks

As a Technical Advisor, Medical Device Testing - Biocompatibility & Chemistry, you will serve as a trusted technical partner to our Account Executives, helping customers identify the right testing and compliance solutions for their medical devices. You will bridge customer requirements with TÜV SÜDs technical capabilities, supporting business growth through technical expertise, solution development, and customer engagement.

• Partner with Account Executives throughout the sales process to understand customer needs and develop technically sound testing solutions.
• Develop project scopes, testing strategies, project plans, and cost estimates for biocompatibility and chemistry testing programs.
• Translate customer requirements into comprehensive proposals aligned with TÜV SÜD quality and technical standards.
• Research and evaluate solutions for customer needs that extend beyond current service offerings.
• Collaborate with laboratory leaders, technical experts, consultants, and external partners to identify and develop new testing capabilities.
• Participate in customer meetings, technical discussions, proposal reviews, and sales presentations to support business development activities.
• Provide guidance on medical device regulatory requirements and testing expectations, including FDA, EU MDR, Health Canada, and other applicable frameworks.
• Serve as the technical point of contact during the pre-sales process and facilitate a smooth transition to project delivery teams following contract award.
• Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments to identify opportunities for service expansion and innovation.

Your Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a technical, applications engineering, solutions engineering, pre-sales, regulatory, or testing role within the medical device industry.
• Strong understanding of medical device testing, regulatory requirements, and compliance pathways.
• Experience developing technical scopes of work, project plans, and customer proposals.
• Knowledge of biocompatibility and chemistry testing applicable to medical devices.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex technical information to diverse audiences.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across technical, commercial, and operational teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Toxicology, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience supporting ISO 10993 biological evaluation programs.
• Experience within a testing, inspection, certification, consulting, or regulatory services organization.
• Familiarity with FDA, EU MDR, Health Canada, and other global medical device regulatory frameworks.
• Experience working directly with medical device manufacturers.
• Experience researching and developing new service offerings or technical solutions.

Additional Information

• Work Model: Remote/Hybrid based on business needs
• Location: United States
• Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel for customer meetings, industry events, and business development activities.

Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated annual base pay range for this full-time position is $90,000 - $110,000. Actual base pay will be determined based on various factors, including years of relevant experience, training, qualifications, and internal equity. The compensation package may also include an annual bonus target, subject to eligibility and other requirements.

Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package to employees, including a 401(k) plan with employer match, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave for birthing parents and 2 weeks for other parents, health plans (medical, dental, and vision), life insurance and disability, and generous paid time off.
