Headquarters Space Force Mission Sustainment/Logistics Directorate (HQSF/S4O) at The Pentagon is searching for a Technical Director (NH-0343-04, GS-14/15 Equivalent).
Description:
Headquarters is seeking a dynamic and highly accomplished leader with deep expertise in strategic planning, resource governance, and organizational transformation to serve as the Technical Director. Operating in a high-operations-tempo, high-visibility environment, this individual strategically leads and supervises a multidisciplinary team of military officers, civil service personnel, and contractors, seamlessly translating senior leadership intent into coordinated, decisive action. The incumbent directs front-office operations and integrates strategic initiatives across the enterprise, establishing the structures, integrated communications, and synchronized battle rhythms necessary to execute mission priorities at scale. By combining exceptional technical credibility with sound operational discipline, this leader turns complex, cross-functional challenges into compelling, decision-ready products, overseeing special projects and managing resource governance to enable senior leaders to resolve critical issues proactively before they impact global mission execution.
The Mission Sustainment/Logistics Directorate (S4O) is seeking a highly accomplished Supervisory Management and Program Analyst to serve as Technical Director, bringing a robust background in leading senior-level headquarters staff teams, strategic planning, policy development, and enterprise mission execution within the Department of War (DoW), with preferred command-level experience in the Space Force, Air Force, or broader defense enterprise. Academically, the ideal candidate will hold a bachelors degree in business, public administration, organizational leadership, engineering management, national security studies, systems management, or a related field, with a masters degree strongly preferred. Professionally, this individual must demonstrate progressive senior leadership experience directing complex staff organizations, front-office operations, and integrated program portfolios, with a commanding track record of aligning organizational goals to executable initiatives, resolving systemic organizational friction, and leading high-performing military and civilian teams in fast-paced, high-visibility environments. Operating as a senior technical authority, the incumbent provides authoritative expertise across assigned Space Staff programs, identifies systemic operating problems, resolves conflicting priorities, and shapes strategic communications, high-level staff papers, and executive products to govern the executive battle rhythm and support senior leader decision-making. Requiring exceptional communication skills, sharp interpersonal judgment, adaptability, and the discretion to handle sensitive information, the successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility, meet special-sensitive position requirements, and operate effectively under travel and unscheduled overtime demands.
