Overview

The Payroll for the Future (P4TF) program is a strategic, enterprise-wide initiative transforming Org's global payroll operations and technology infrastructure. The Technology Strategy Workstream is focused on delivering a future-ready, AI-enabled payroll platform - spanning Workday localization, automation, systems rationalization, and integration governance across 40+ countries.

This TPM role supports the Technology & Strategy Workstream within the DET IT Finance & Employee Success (FIN/ES) organization, operating under the Delivery Assurance & Operations pillar and working in close partnership with our internal IT delivery team, Product Management, and Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

Program & Workstream Delivery
  • Support day-to-day execution of the PFTF Technology Strategy Workstream, including Workday localization, automation priorities, and systems rationalization activities
  • Track and maintain program health, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables across multiple concurrent work tracks
  • Manage and maintain GUS (internal Agile tracking) epics, stories, and project-level health status; ensure updates are completed per program cadence (weekly by Wednesday 8:30am CST)
  • Maintain Smartsheet program tracking in alignment with program standards; as required
  • Facilitate and participate in recurring program cadences including Daily IT Standups, Weekly Cross-Team meetings, Tech Strategy/Change Management syncs, and any additional required cadences yet to be scheduled.

Risk, Issue & Dependency Management (RAID)
  • Proactively identify, track, and escalate risks, issues, actions, and dependencies (RAID) across the workstream
  • Maintain RAID log in GUS; escalate critical path issues impacting planning deadlines to program leads
  • Apply baseline change management practices to protect team capacity and proactively communicate roadblocks to leadership

Requirements & Documentation
  • Support documentation and control frameworks as required
  • Work with Product to support action items throughout discovery
  • Drive process adherence and sign-offs

Future State Design & Quality Assurance
  • Facilitate future-state payroll process design sessions with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Ensure defined service level agreements are in place and operational metrics are trackable
  • Support end-to-end testing activities including UAT coordination across integrations and systems
  • Contribute to quality and governance standards across the workstream

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
  • Build strong working relationships with internal TPMs, Product Owners, Engineering Managers, Policy leads, and Change Management teams
  • Support preparation of executive-ready status updates, SteerCo readouts, and program-level communications.
  • Operate as a trusted delivery partner; surface observations, risks, and recommendations clearly and constructively

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Technical Program Management experience in large-scale enterprise IT programs
  • Demonstrated experience supporting HR/Payroll technology implementations, with Workday experience strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of Agile/SAFe delivery methodologies; experience working in sprint-based execution environments
  • Proficiency with program tracking tools such as GUS (Agile/Jira-based), Smartsheet, and/or equivalent
  • Experience managing RAID logs and applying change management practices in complex, multi-stakeholder programs
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional dependencies across engineering, product, and business workstreams
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; comfortable operating at all levels of an organization
  • Experience working within large enterprise environments with 50K+ employees preferred
  • Strong documentation and requirements management skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with global payroll systems, multi-country Workday localization, or similar HR technology transformation programs
  • Familiarity with our internal technology ecosystem (Workday, SPIFF, Benefits platforms, ERP integrations)
  • PMP, CSM, PMI-ACP, or SAFe certification
  • Experience supporting vendor rationalization or RFP/sourcing processes
  • Comfort working in an AI-augmented delivery environment (e.g., using AI tools for documentation, summarization, and status tracking) - smartsheets

Key Partnerships

This role works closely with the following internal stakeholders:
  • IT Lead / Program Oversight: Senior Director, ES Technology
  • Product Management: Director, Product Management (Workday/HR)
  • Director, Software Engineering
  • Program Management: Senior Director, Portfolio Management
  • Policy Workstream Lead: Program Lead, Policy
  • Change & Enablement: Manager, Change & Enablement

Success Criteria:

  • GUS project health reflects accurate, up-to-date status weekly.
  • Workstream deliverables (requirements, documentation, process designs) completed on schedule and to quality standards.
  • Proactive escalation of risks and blockers; no surprises for program leadership.
  • Strong cross-functional working relationships established within 30 days of engagement.
