Technical Sales Estimator

Steele Solutions is a leading manufacturer of steel work platforms, material handling systems, safety structures, and custom-engineered solutions. We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Estimator to join our team and support customers across a variety of industries.
This role combines estimating, design, and customer interaction to develop cost-effective solutions for unique customer projects. The ideal candidate enjoys problem-solving, working with technical drawings, and collaborating with sales, engineering, and project management teams to bring projects from concept to quotation.
Location: Tiffin, Ohio
Schedule: Office, Generally 4 9’s and a 4 on Friday
Travel: Limited, occasional customer site visits as needed
What You'll Do:
- Review customer specifications, blueprints, drawings, and project requirements.
- Develop accurate cost estimates and quotations for steel platforms, gravity chutes, safety lockers, and other custom solutions.
- Determine material, labor, and manufacturing requirements for proposed projects.
- Generate bills of materials and identify cost drivers that impact project pricing.
- Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Project Management teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Create customized solutions using standard SSI products and components.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.
- Assist with product improvements and enhancements based on customer feedback and market needs.
- Occasional travel to customer locations may be required.
What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications:
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Ability to read CAD software 2D and 3D models.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in estimating, manufacturing, engineering support, applications engineering, technical sales, or project engineering.
- Experience working in steel fabrication, metals manufacturing, structural steel, material handling, or industrial equipment environments.
- Experience developing bills of materials (BOMs) and manufacturing estimates.
- Familiarity with distributor networks and B2B customer relationships.
- Knowledge of material handling equipment and custom fabricated products.
Technical Skills:
Preferred experience with one or more of the following:
- AutoCAD.
- 3D Modeling Software.
- BOM Creation.
- Cost Estimating.
- Manufacturing Processes.
- Engineering Documentation.
