Description

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to create, edit, and maintain a comprehensive range of technical documents for a critical federal assignment. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between complex engineering concepts and accessible content, ensuring all documentation strictly adheres to federal compliance guidelines. This role requires collaborating with subject matter experts, managing documentation repositories, and contributing to process improvements within an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Create, edit, and maintain a wide range of technical documents, including system manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), user guides, engineering documentation, training materials, and contract deliverables.
  • Translate highly technical information into clear, concise, and accessible content for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, subject matter experts (SMEs), developers, analysts, and program leadership to gather source material and validate technical accuracy.
  • Ensure all documentation strictly complies with customer standards, contract requirements, and applicable federal guidelines, including DoD, DHS, IC, and NIST.
  • Develop and maintain document templates, style guides, and version-control processes to support organizational consistency.
  • Review and edit documents for grammar, clarity, organization, and overall compliance.
  • Manage documentation repositories and configuration control using approved tools such as Confluence, SharePoint, Git, and Jira.
  • Support proposal writing, technical volumes, and other business development documentation initiatives as required.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior writers while actively contributing to documentation process improvements.
  • Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, and customer briefings to capture vital requirements and project updates.
Required Qualifications:
  • Must possess a highly active and current TS/SCI clearance.
  • Must hold a Bachelor's degree with 5 to 8 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree with 3 to 5 years of experience, or a Ph.D. with 0 to 2 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality documentation independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Strong understanding of technical concepts encompassing systems engineering, cybersecurity, software development, and IT operations.
  • Proficiency with documentation tools, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Confluence, SharePoint, and Visio.
  • Proven experience operating within Agile development environments and utilizing tools such as Jira and GitLab.
  • Native or bilingual proficiency in the English language.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, paired with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and successfully manage multiple concurrent deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), or federal civilian agencies.
  • Familiarity with NIST standards, Risk Management Framework (RMF) documentation, or system accreditation packages.
  • Knowledge of XML-based documentation or structured authoring tools.
  • Prior experience directly contributing to proposals or technical volumes.
  • Advanced tenure of 8 to 10 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, 6 to 8 years with a Master's degree, or 3 to 5 years with a Ph.D.
