If so, consider applying to the City of Harrisonburgs Parks & Recreation Department as a Technician I in Park Facility Maintenance, where youll help maintain safe, attractive, and well-functioning parks, facilities, and recreational spaces.

The Technician I - Park Facility Maintenance is a full-time position with benefits and a preferred hiring range of $20.45 - $22.50 per hour (equivalent to $42,536 - $46,800 annually). Applicants who do not meet the qualifications for the Technician I level may be considered for another level within the department at an annual rate commensurate with applicant qualifications.

Preferred Hiring Ranges:

• Journeyman: $19.54 - $21.00 per hour (equivalent to $40,643 - $43,680 annually)
• Technician I: $20.45 - $22.50 per hour (equivalent to $42,536 - $46,800 annually)

In this Technician I position in Park Facility Maintenance, youll perform general building maintenance and repairs, including carpentry, painting, roofing, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, masonry, welding, and appliance maintenance. Key responsibilities include repairing doors, windows, floors, walls, roofs, lighting, plumbing fixtures, furnishings, and other building components; installing items such as cabinetry, shelving, tile, ceilings, sidewalks, and fixtures; and helping ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and welcoming for employees and the public. The successful candidate will also operate and maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment; complete basic preventive maintenance and minor repairs; perform vehicle and equipment inspections; support snow and ice removal operations; assist other skilled trades as needed; and respond professionally to assigned work orders while accurately documenting completed work.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Requirements for the Technician I Level:

• High school diploma or GED and moderate (1-3 years) experience in one of the building trades, maintenance, repair, and/or construction work. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be used to meet this requirement.
• Valid drivers license. Virginia Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class B required within six (6) months of hire. Paid, on-the-job training will be provided for CDL attainment.
• At least 18 years of age.
