Job Summary

The Technology Engineer is a hands-on technical resource responsible for various backend compute environments including virtualization, operating systems, NAS, backup, certificate management, end-user compute devices, or automation framework. A key focus of this role includes ServiceNow platform administration and development, supporting workflows, ITSM processes, and service delivery optimization. This working technical resources coordinates with cross-functional partners to ensures full lifecycle, compliance, and disaster recovery readiness. This role also owns system documentation, standards, procedures and alignment with FFIEC regulatory guidance. This role works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure infrastructure reliability, audit readiness, and compliance.

Job Responsibilities:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage Systems, configurations, and system stability
• Technical engineer overseeing backend system administration for hypervisors, NAS, Microsoft systems, certificate management, databases, and Linux operating systems.
• Set patching and upgrade schedules for the team, ensuring all systems remain current and out of EOL status.
• Approve and review Ansible automation workflows, backup/restore processes (Commvault, RMAN), and configuration baselines.
• Provide final oversight on high-risk platform upgrades and migrations.

Compliance and audit

• Own overall compliance posture for backend systems, ensuring full adherence to FFIEC guidelines, audit requirements, and IT risk management policies.
• Coordinate with internal audit, risk, and compliance teams to deliver accurate evidence and remediation plans.
• Drive continuous improvement of compliance processes to reduce audit findings and enhance security posture.

ServiceNow Administration and Platform Management

• Serve as the primary ServiceNow Administrator, managing platform configurations, upgrades, and overall instance health.
• Design, develop, and maintain workflows, forms, business rules, UI policies, and scripted components (Script Includes, Flow Designer) to support ITSM processes.
• Administer and optimize core ServiceNow modules including Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management, Service Catalog, and CMDB.
• Manage user roles, access controls, and group configurations to ensure proper governance and security within the platform.
• Coordinate and execute ServiceNow version upgrades, patches, and plugin activations while minimizing service disruption.
• Integrate ServiceNow with third-party tools and internal systems to streamline service delivery and operational workflows.
• Monitor platform performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Support the Hardware Asset Management (HAM) and Software Asset Management (SAM) modules to manage full asset lifecycles, license compliance, software entitlements, and reconciliation, while maintaining accurate CMDB asset records and delivering visibility through reports and dashboards.
• Support the Enterprise Architecture (EA) module by maintaining application and technology portfolios, collaborating with architects and stakeholders on roadmaps and technology decisions, and ensuring EA data remains aligned with CMDB and ITAM for a unified view of the technology environment.
• Own and maintain the ServiceNow CMDB, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and integrity of Configuration Items (CIs) across all supported infrastructure and application domains.
• Establish and enforce CMDB governance policies, including CI naming conventions, relationship mapping standards, and data quality thresholds.
• Utilize Discovery and Service Mapping to automate CI population and maintain up-to-date visibility into the technology environment.
• Perform regular CMDB audits and reconciliation to identify and remediate stale, duplicate, or misconfigured CIs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure CMDB data supports downstream processes such as Change Management, Incident Management, and Asset Management.

Compliance and Audit

• Own overall compliance posture for backend systems, ensuring full adherence to FFIEC guidelines, audit requirements, and IT risk management policies.
• Coordinate with internal audit, risk, and compliance teams to deliver accurate evidence and remediation plans.
• Drive continuous improvement of compliance processes to reduce audit findings and enhance security posture.
• Leverage ServiceNow GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) capabilities to track audit findings, manage risk items, and maintain compliance documentation.

Daily requests, new builds, cross-team collaboration

• Ensures workload metrics for operational requests, system builds, migrations, and decommissions are met.
• Act as escalation point for major incidents and coordinate with leadership during crisis events.
• Delivers and collaborates with architecture, application, and infrastructure teams to ensure technology decisions align with enterprise goals.
• Champion disaster recovery planning, test execution, and after-action review improvements. Documentation and Reporting
• Ensure all backend system documentation is accurate, current, and meets audit standards.
• Review and approve daily/weekly/monthly operational and compliance reports before submission to leadership.
• Promote documentation as a core operational discipline across the team, setting expectations and accountability for quality.
• Report team performance metrics and operational health to IT leadership.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications:

• Education level required: High School / High School Equivalency (GED, HiSET, TASC) / Foreign Equivalent
• Minimum experience required: 4+ Years managing large scale technology programs or in a technology engineering capacity
• Proficient with Microsoft and Linux operating systems.
• Proficient with certificate management
• Strong understanding of load balancing, networking concepts
• Strong experience with hypervisors, NAS management, and enterprise backup solutions.
• Working knowledge of Disaster Recovery execution.
• Familiarity with Ansible and infrastructure automation workflows.
• Demonstrated Education level required: High School / High School Equivalency (GED, HiSET, TASC) / Foreign Equivalent understanding of system lifecycle, patching, and EOL remediation.
• Awareness of FFIEC, SOX, HIPAA, NIST or similar compliance frameworks.
• Strong documentation and cross-functional communication skills.

Job Competencies:

• Experience in and responsivity for hypervisors, Microsoft/Linux systems, NAS, and backup infrastructure.
• Oversee patching, upgrades, and system lifecycle compliance to prevent EOL exposure across platforms.
• Architect and enforce backup strategies using Commvault and RMAN; lead DR exercises and business continuity testing.
• Provide technical leadership in Ansible usage for automation, deployment, and consistency.
• Ensure audit readiness and documentation quality in alignment with FFIEC and internal compliance policies.
• Manage NAS resources including structure, retention, permissions, replication, and capacity.
• Act as escalation point for OS, virtualization, and backup failures or performance degradation.
• Serve as liaison between infrastructure, application, and security teams for shared projects and incident resolution.
• Delegate project work, set priorities, and track execution while contributing technically.
• Coordinate system support for database infrastructure and ensure platform-level availability for SQL and Oracle.
