Technology Project Manager
6+ month contract with strong potential to extend
Hybrid onsite 3 days/week in Boston, MA
$62-78/hour depending on experience
PurposeThe Project Manager will lead a portfolio of technology infrastructure initiatives across areas including Client Services/End User Technology, Middleware and Platform Engineering, Cloud, Operating Systems, Storage, Networking/Telecom, and Identity & Access Management.
This senior-level contract role requires strong project management experience and enough infrastructure knowledge to work effectively with engineering teams, technology leaders, vendors, and business partners. The successful candidate will manage multiple projects at the same time, bring structure to complex work, identify risks and dependencies, drive accountability, and clearly communicate progress, decisions, and issues.
This is not a hands-on engineering role; it requires the ability to understand infrastructure dependencies, sequencing, risks, and tradeoffs.
Responsibilities- Project Leadership & Execution: Lead multiple infrastructure projects from start to finish, including scope, milestones, deliverables, ownership, schedules, resource needs, and success criteria.
- Infrastructure Portfolio Coordination: Coordinate initiatives across infrastructure disciplines including Client Services, Middleware/Platform Engineering, Cloud, Operating Systems, Storage, Networking/Telecom, and Identity & Access Management.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Drive alignment across infrastructure teams and partner organizations including Security, Application Development, Enterprise Data, business teams, and external vendors.
- Dependency, Risk & Issue Management: Identify and actively manage dependencies, risks, issues, decisions, and blockers; communicate impacts clearly and drive owners toward timely resolution.
- Governance & Reporting: Establish clear project governance and provide concise, audience-appropriate status reporting at multiple levels, including executive summaries, red/yellow/green status reports, project milestones, risks, dependencies, decisions, and financial status.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong working relationships with technical leaders, engineers, business partners, senior stakeholders, and vendors (where applicable).
- Financial & Resource Management: Monitor project budgets, forecasts, resource plans, and capital/operating expenses (where applicable).
- Continuous Improvement: May conduct lessons-learned reviews and help strengthen project management practices and execution across the Infrastructure & Client Services organization.

- Data center, cloud, and infrastructure migration initiatives
- Server, operating system, storage, backup, and recovery modernization
- Network, wireless, firewall, telecom, voice, AV, and connectivity upgrades
- Identity, authentication, certificates, and security-related infrastructure initiatives
- Middleware, platform engineering, and infrastructure automation efforts
- End-user technology, endpoint management, software deployment, and Client Services improvements
- Operational improvement initiatives that strengthen infrastructure reliability, scalability, and delivery discipline
Required Qualifications- 7+ years of project management experience, preferably leading enterprise technology or infrastructure initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent technical projects in complex, matrixed environments.
- Working knowledge of enterprise infrastructure technologies and environments, such as cloud, networking, servers/operating systems, storage, identity, middleware, and end-user technology.
- Proven ability to lead work involving multiple engineering teams, business stakeholders, senior leaders, and external vendors.
- Strong project planning, dependency management, risk management, issue resolution, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical details into clear updates for both technical teams and senior leadership.
- Experience creating executive summaries, project dashboards, and red/yellow/green status reports for technical and senior leadership audiences.
- Ability to operate independently, create structure in ambiguous situations, and drive accountability without direct authority.
- Proficiency with project planning, reporting, and collaboration tools, including Microsoft 365, Copilot, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications- 10+ years of technology project/program management experience.
- Financial services or other highly regulated industry experience.
- Experience leading infrastructure modernization, migration, or transformation initiatives.
- Experience working within global enterprise technology organizations.
- PMP or similar project/program management certification.
- Familiarity with Agile and traditional project delivery methodologies.
