DESCRIPTIVE STATEMENT:
This position is a part-time, project-specific, grant-funded, temporary role under direct supervision of planners and general supervision by the Director of Planning and Community Development. The duration of this role is not expected to exceed 4 months. The purpose of this position is to perform technical and skilled duties associated with efforts to update the Pueblo Regional Comprehensive Plan in accordance with the State Sustainable Affordable Housing Assistance (SB24-174). These duties include, but are not limited to, research of relevant local and state laws; coordination with internal city departments and external agencies; identifying vacant, underutilized, or undeveloped sites; data consolidation; and drafting technical language relating to Pueblo's housing needs and strategic growth tools.

This is a temporary, project specific, classification. Work completed by the employee is observed and reviewed during both its performance and upon completion. Applicants may have limited work experience, but candidates should have applicable education and knowledge to competently perform the required duties.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The duties in this classification are primarily performed indoors, in a comfortable office environment. The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to meet the physical demands of the job. The position requires a great deal of interpersonal communication with City employees, the public, and outside agencies. The individual may be frequently exposed to periods of demanding activity and moderate mental stress. Individual must successfully pass a post-offer background check.
Due to Federal and State Criminal Justice System access requirements, classifications that access and maintain criminal justice information may also be required, as a condition of employment, to not have been convicted of and/or have pending charges of a felony or misdemeanor crime that would deny or otherwise restrict access to criminal justice information. This requirement applies to all existing City employees as well as external candidates seeking to fill positions that meet the given criteria.

City of Pueblo Temporary and Seasonal Employee Sick Leave Benefits
Beginning January 1, 2021, all employers in Colorado are required to provide paid sick leave to employees under the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act ("HFWA"). Said leave is accrued at one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours.
Per the Act, leave may be used for any of the following reasons:
Consistent with the HWFA, part-time temporary and seasonal employees of the City shall not carry forward more than forty-eight (48) hours of unused sick leave from one year to the next.

City employment as a temporary or seasonal employee means that the most you can expect to work is 1300 hours in a calendar year. Depending on the work schedule required by the hiring department, this means more time to spend with your family and/or doing other activities.
