We're looking for a seasoned, hands-on accounting leader to step into our controller seat on an interim basis. You'll own key daily, weekly, and monthly accounting activities, partner closely with the VP of Accounting, and work with the CFO, FP&A, HR, technology, and operations. You'll need to get up to speed quickly, since you'll overlap with the outgoing manager for a short transition.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and complete the monthly close (typically 5-6 business days) across multiple entities
- Manage revenue and deferred revenue accounting for a subscription and credit card billing model, including daily revenue allocation and in-transit settlements
- Maintain the balance sheet, including capitalized software, capital leases, accrued liabilities, and shareholder and bank debt with covenants
- Keep intercompany and multi-entity accounting accurate across the management company and medical entities (CPOM structure)
- Prepare and respond to audit requests and support tax compliance
- Coordinate payroll accounting entries and payroll tax compliance with HR and payroll
- Analyze monthly results against budget, forecast, and trends, and present findings to the CFO and finance leadership
- Support AP and the senior accountant, and review their work
- Use AI tools to streamline close, variance analysis, AP, and transaction coding
- Contribute to process improvements and special projects as they arise
Requirements
- Controller-level experience, with a strong foundation in GAAP accounting and tax
- Direct audit experience, including preparing audit requests and working with external auditors
- Multi-entity accounting experience
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight, think ahead, and bring alternative solutions to leadership
- Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to work well across varied personalities and departments
- Executive presence, and the ability to present clearly and concisely to the CFO, VPs, and occasionally the C-suite
- Recent hands-on exposure to AI tools in accounting
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment and getting up to speed in a short time
