IMPORTANT!
The Cardiovascular Registered Nurse uses clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat patient responses to actual or potential health conditions. The RN is a critical member of the Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) which cares for over 4000 cardiology patients annually; procedures including PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip and bi-ventricular pacemakers. Approximately 300 open heart surgery patients (18-24 hours post-op) are discharged from this unit. The CVU also specializes in the care of patients with congestive heart failure and electrophysiology studies. Our NISUS research department manages many national clinical trials using CVU.
McLaren Northern has incorporated a strict 3 strike attendance policy to advocate for their patient population. Any RN contractor who is absent from a scheduled shift or is more than 20 minutes late for their scheduled shift 3 times will be terminated effective immediately. Situations such as a communicable disease or hospitalization with supporting evidence will be reviewed in favor of the contractor. This policy will begin on 6/1/2024.

The CVU has been awarded a Silver level Beacon Award in 2014 and was redesigned in 2017 by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). This accomplishment represents one of many significant milestones on CVU's journey to optimal outcomes and exceptional patient care that could not be achieved without our exceptional RNs. - 1+ year of Stepdown experience - [REQUIRED]

- EKG comfortability - [REQUIRED]
- Must be willing to float to similar units - [REQUIRED]
Health system-wide profile standards
- References NOT required.
- A skills checklist completed within one year of application for RN specialties is required. All other professions outside of Nursing are not required but preferred.
- Michigan license verification is required for nurses. Please provide LARA and Nursys; if there is a license hit, it would be in the traveler s best interest to provide a write-up of what happened for the manager's review.
- Physical copies of certifications are only required in the profile if listed above.
- Full-time employees of McLaren are not eligible for contract hire within six months of employment.
