Description of Job

Assist the Property Technician with the daily maintenance and improvement of State Wildlife Areas in Jackson County. Primary duties will include but are not limited to: noxious weed control; facility and equipment maintenance; fence repair and construction; mandatory big game animal checks; operating and maintaining vehicles, trailers, weed spraying equipment, All Terrain Vehicles (ATV's), power tools, and chainsaws; handling animal carcasses; data recording and record keeping; as well as interacting with and answering questions from hunters and anglers. This position will also assist District Wildlife Managers, Biologists, and other Property Technicians with wildlife management related tasks.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Note: There is only one position available in this location. The position is up to 40 hours per week and up to nine months in duration. The rate of pay for this position is fixed and therefore will not change during the season. Hiring and firing is at the supervisors discretion.

Must be 18 years of age or older

Must have a current & valid driver's license for operating a state vehicle

Work-site will provide some uniform items, however the employee may be required to purchase limited

uniform items at their own expense.

Must have experience working with a variety of hand and power tools

Must have vehicle/equipment/maintenance experience

Must have ability to hike long distances with a pack

Must have ability to accomplish physically demanding tasks

Must be willing and able to work outside which may involve inclement weather

Must possess a good attitude

Must possess enthusiasm for protecting Colorado's resources

Pursuant to the DNR-120 Fleet and Driving Standards Administrative Directive, any worker who will be expected to drive a State-owned vehicle is responsible for maintaining a safe driving record and a valid driver license prior to driving any State-owned vehicle.

To be compliant with the new fleet vehicle policy, Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) will be pulled for review for workers who:

  • Have an assigned State fleet vehicle

  • Are required to operate a vehicle as part of the position

  • Utilize a State fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle
