Temporary Ballet/Dance Instructor - Position Overview
The Temporary Ballet/Dance Instructor is responsible for planning and leading safe, engaging, and age-appropriate dance instruction for youth and/or adult participants through the City of Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities (RPCA). Instruction may include Pre-Ballet, Ballet Levels 1-3, introductory Pointe, creative movement, beginner adult ballet, conditioning-based dance classes, or other dance and movement-based programming depending on program needs and instructor experience.
Instructors create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes physical wellness, creativity, confidence, discipline, and artistic expression. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong instructional skills, professionalism, and the ability to engage participants of varying ages and skill levels in a structured and supportive setting.
Responsibilities may include:
Minimum & Additional Requirements
Minimum: High School Diploma and three (3) years of related experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. First Aid training.
Additional requirements: 2-3 years of experience in dance instruction, performing arts, recreation programming, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
