This is a paid temporary position limited to a maximum of 9 months from the date of hire. In addition to being a fantastic place to work, CDOT offers all temporary employees paid sick leave. Temporary employees accrue one hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked, capped at 48 hours.

Description of Job

What You Will Do

This temporary position will be trained on how to use Sign Shop machinery and tools and functions, including:

  • Manufacture Class I, Class II, and Class III sign panel blanks.
  • Drill, countersink, and rivet panel blanks as required.
  • Apply pressure sensitive reflective sheeting to sign blanks to include guide signs using layouts and drawings.
  • Inspect quality of work for defects, misprints, and conformity to standards.
  • Learn how to research signs using their code and how to read sign layouts provided in the standards or through engineering drawings.
  • Maintain inventory levels.
  • Load and unload customer's vehicles, wrapping and palletizing orders.

Your Work Environment

  • Hazardous chemicals can be used in the sign fabrication process

Minimum Qualifications:

  • No previous education or experience is required.
  • Previous experience in automotive, carpentry, HVAC, and repairing equipment is highly desirable.
  • Completion of non-correspondence vocational training in sheet metal work from an accredited vocational school also is desirable.

  • Familiarity with safely and effectively operating heavy punch presses, iron worker, 10 foot shear, digital printers and design software, drills, saws, and other hand tools;
