Sales Engineer – Cutting Tools & Machining Solutions


Preferred Location: Oklahoma or Dallas-Fort Worth Metro Area


Position Overview

A leading manufacturer of precision metal-cutting solutions is seeking a Sales Engineer to drive growth throughout a defined regional territory. This position is responsible for developing new business opportunities and supporting existing customers through a consultative, application-focused sales approach.

The successful candidate will work closely with end users, distribution partners, and integrated supply organizations to identify productivity improvements, optimize machining processes, and deliver technical solutions that improve manufacturing performance.

Target industries include aerospace, automotive, medical, energy, industrial manufacturing, and other precision machining sectors.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a territory growth strategy focused on expanding market share and generating new business opportunities.
  • Build relationships with manufacturing end users, distribution partners, and integrated suppliers throughout the region.
  • Identify, qualify, and secure new customer opportunities through proactive prospecting and consultative selling.
  • Support existing customers through application reviews, productivity improvements, tool recommendations, and process optimization initiatives.
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to develop solutions, quotations, and application-specific tooling recommendations.
  • Conduct tooling evaluations, process trials, and performance analyses to demonstrate value and secure new business.
  • Assist customers with machining challenges by identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  • Provide technical training and product education to machine operators, manufacturing engineers, programmers, and management teams.
  • Support key account initiatives and strategic growth opportunities as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer activity, sales opportunities, forecasts, and account plans within CRM systems.
  • Develop business plans and growth strategies in partnership with distribution and channel partners.
  • Achieve or exceed assigned sales objectives and territory performance goals.
  • Manage customer concerns and support issue resolution in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Submit required sales reports, forecasts, expense reports, and account updates in a timely manner.


Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years of experience within manufacturing, machining, metalworking, or industrial sales environments.
  • Proven success in technical sales, territory management, business development, or channel sales.
  • Experience selling cutting tools, machining solutions, workholding, tooling systems, or related manufacturing products is strongly preferred.


Technical Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, including milling, drilling, boring, reaming, threading, and related applications.
  • Ability to recommend tooling solutions based on customer requirements, productivity goals, and quality standards.
  • Knowledge of cutting tool geometry, application troubleshooting, and process optimization.
  • Experience calculating speeds, feeds, and machining parameters.
  • Ability to identify manufacturing challenges, determine root causes, and recommend effective solutions.
  • Familiarity with quality and process control methodologies is beneficial.
