Territory Sales Manager, Industrial Pre-Commissioning Services
Sell the pre-commissioning services that get newly built power, LNG, refining, and petrochemical plants clean and ready for start-up, to the EPCs and owners building them. Work from a home office in the Houston area, own your accounts, and build a pipeline that pays for years.
Base $90K to $100K Full-Ramp OTE $175K to $225K at target 1% to 1.5% of Top-Line Sales Field Based, Home Office in Houston Metro
The Opportunity
Our client, an established Gulf Coast industrial services company, is hiring a Territory Sales Manager in Houston to sell pre-commissioning and commissioning services into the construction and maintenance of heavy industrial facilities. Their crews perform steam blows, chemical cleaning, air blows, oil flushing, and hydro testing that get new power generation, LNG, refining, and petrochemical systems clean before start-up. This seat owns a defined book of accounts and the relationships that win the next round of projects.
The role is defined by accounts, not by a map. About 25 percent of the work is managing existing accounts assigned at hire, and about 75 percent is opening new ones. The team wants the person in this seat to build relationships at three to five target accounts that become their own house accounts over time. You will join a sales team of four as the fifth seller, filling a seat held by an experienced rep.
The sales motion follows how large capital projects buy. Owners contract the major EPCs, work flows through the EPC, and awards are driven by RFQs and procurement over long cycles, with quicker-turn jobs running alongside the big pursuits. If you have built a career as a territory sales manager selling into this world, this is a chance to do it with real ownership in one of the strongest industrial markets in the country, the Houston and Gulf Coast corridor.
Why This Role
Earnings
A Team Earning $175K to $225K at Full Ramp
Sellers on the current team earn $175,000 to $225,000 at full ramp, built on a $90,000 to $100,000 base. Commission runs about 1 percent of top-line sales, up to 1.5 percent depending on your involvement through execution, and is earned on results.
Upside
Awarded Jobs Grow After You Win Them
Projects often expand once crews mobilize and new service lines are added on site; a $1 million award can grow to $6 million. Strong sellers on this team have produced $30,000 commission quarters.
Ownership
Your Relationships Become Your Accounts
You start with a set of assigned accounts and spend most of your time opening new ones. The EPC and owner relationships you bring and build become your house accounts.
Leads
Not a Cold Start
Marketing leads are distributed across the sales team, and you begin receiving them as you ramp. They arrive alongside your own prospecting, so the pipeline is not built from zero.
Autonomy
Run Your Own Week
This is a field role from a home office with no daily check-ins. You plan your calls, work your bids, and come into the office every week or two to build proposals with engineering and operations.
Stability
A Long-Term Home on a Small Team
The company is small, tight-knit, and low turnover, with many employees there twenty years or more. On a team of five sellers, every sale you make is visible and matters.
What You Will Do
Who We Are Looking For
A seasoned, self-directed outside sales professional who already understands how billion-dollar industrial projects are built and bought.
Required
Strongly Preferred
Backgrounds That Transfer Well
Very few sellers have sold exactly these services. If you sell something else into the same projects, to the same EPC and owner buyers, your experience transfers directly.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Precision Sales Recruiting?
Precision Sales Recruiting is a veteran-owned manufacturing and industrial B2B sales recruiting firm based in Fort Worth, Texas. Precision Sales Recruiting places sales professionals exclusively for manufacturing, capital equipment, industrial distribution, and manufacturing technology companies across the United States.
What is The PRECISION Method?
The PRECISION Method is Precision Sales Recruiting''s proprietary candidate evaluation framework for manufacturing and industrial B2B sales professionals. It evaluates candidates across nine scored dimensions: Procedural, Resilience, Execution, Coachability, Image and Professionalism, Sales Identity, Initiative, Ownership, and Numbers. Every candidate is assessed through structured role play, a behavioral interview, and psychometric assessments before being submitted to a client.
Where does the Territory Sales Manager need to live?
Anywhere in the Houston metropolitan area or within reasonable driving distance of the company''s east Houston office, including areas such as Galveston, Beaumont, and north of Houston. The role works from a home office, with a visit to the office every one to two weeks to build proposals. Out-of-state candidates are not being considered.
Is this a hunting role or an account management role?
Mostly hunting. About 25 percent of the role is managing existing accounts assigned at hire, and about 75 percent is developing new accounts with EPCs and owners. Marketing leads are shared with the team as you ramp, so new business development is supported rather than fully cold.
Do I need direct pre-commissioning sales experience?
No. Very few sellers have sold these exact services. The strongest candidates sell equipment, materials, or services into the construction or maintenance of power, LNG, refining, and petrochemical facilities and already understand how work flows from owners through EPCs. Direct pre-commissioning or industrial cleaning sales experience is also welcome.
How does commission work?
Commission is about 1 percent of top-line sales, up to 1.5 percent depending on your involvement through execution, and it is paid when the company is paid. Quick-turn jobs pay out sooner, while large project work can pay out a year to a year and a half after the sale. Commission is earned on results; it is not a fixed or promised amount. Sellers on the current team earn $175,000 to $225,000 at full ramp.
How much travel is involved?
Travel is mainly local and regional: field sales calls across the Houston and Gulf Coast industrial corridor, office visits every one to two weeks, and industry events and trade shows during the year.
What is the application process?
Submit your resume through the form on this page. A Precision Sales Recruiting recruiter will schedule a 15-minute discovery call, followed by a deeper interview. Qualified candidates are then presented to the company for a phone screen, an interview with the hiring manager, and a second interview before a decision.
