Job Description

Now Recruiting · Phoenix, AZ

Territory Sales Representative, Overhead Crane and Material Handling

Take over an established Phoenix territory with a customer base already in place, recurring inspection revenue that renews, and a branch team behind every quote. You own the territory end to end, from the first plant walk to the renewal.

Base $80K to $90K Year 1 OTE $140K to $150K at plan Commission on Equipment and Inspections Field Based, Phoenix Metro

The Opportunity

Our client is a national industrial equipment company that sells, installs, inspects, and services overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment out of a branch network across the country. This is a territory sales rep seat at the Phoenix branch, and the Territory Sales Representative who fills it owns the Phoenix territory from prospecting and quoting through booking, inspection contracts, and renewals.

You are not starting from zero. The Phoenix branch already has an established book of business across manufacturing plants, distribution centers, and industrial facilities, and the seat exists to grow it. The work splits between expanding existing accounts, bringing customers who buy online into a rep-managed relationship, winning new inspection contracts, and opening new accounts across the Phoenix metro.

The sales motion is consultative and field based. Your buyers are maintenance managers, plant and operations leaders, and procurement, and your way in is the inspection contract: every inspection uncovers repair, parts, and modification work for you to quote. Professionals coming from outside sales representative roles in equipment rental, forklifts, or material handling will recognize the buyer, the job sites, and the weekly rhythm.

Why This Role

Established Book

A Territory With Customers Already In It

The Phoenix branch has an existing customer base and a healthy book of business. You inherit relationships and revenue on day one and build from there instead of cold starting a territory.

Recurring Revenue

Inspection Contracts That Renew

Lifting equipment needs regular inspection, so the contracts you win come back year after year. Each renewal you own builds a base that compounds over time.

Pull-Through Work

Every Inspection Creates the Next Quote

Inspections surface repair, parts, and modification needs on the equipment you already service. You quote that work directly, so one relationship turns into several revenue streams.

Earnings

Year 1 OTE $140K to $150K at Plan

A base of $80K to $90K plus commission paid on both capital equipment and inspection sales. Total earnings track what you book, so your results drive the number.

Real Ramp

90 to 120 Days to Learn the Business

New reps spend their first months on training, systems, and getting to know the customer base before full targets apply. You walk into the field prepared, not guessing.

Support Behind You

A Branch Team and a Strategic Accounts Group

You plan the week with the branch, coordinate joint calls with vendors and a Strategic Accounts team, and report to the Western Director of Sales. NetSuite, AI tools, and an iPad support you in the field.

What You Will Do

  • Own the Phoenix territory end to end, from prospecting and quoting through booking, inspection contract growth, and renewals
  • Hold 7 to 10 scheduled appointments a week with prospects and existing customers, walking plant floors with maintenance managers to scope inspection and repair work
  • Prospect new business through outbound calls and email, on-site cold calls, and cloverleafing the businesses around each appointment
  • Win new inspection contracts and drive existing renewals from customer contact through quote and purchase order
  • Convert customers who buy online into rep-managed, recurring relationships
  • Quote and close the repair, parts, and modification work that inspections uncover
  • Coordinate joint calls with vendors and the Strategic Accounts team
  • Plan your territory and log activity in real time in NetSuite, with weekly activity and booking targets

Who We Are Looking For

The right person is a field seller who values recurring revenue, hunts new business while growing the existing base, and treats the territory as their own business.

Required

  • Four to seven years of outside sales experience
  • Strong closing skills and a proven record of hitting sales objectives
  • Working knowledge of CRM systems, AI tools, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word, and comfort being measured on weekly activity
  • Mechanically inclined and comfortable in industrial field environments, including loud job sites and moving equipment, and able to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
  • Able to be in the branch Monday and Friday and in the territory Tuesday through Thursday
  • Strong time management, organization, and communication, and a team player who partners with the branch

Strongly Preferred

  • Service-oriented selling: inspection contracts, maintenance agreements, repair quoting, or parts
  • A track record of growing recurring contract revenue and owning renewals
  • New business development: cold calls, on-site prospecting, territory mapping, and opening new accounts
  • NetSuite experience
  • Consultative, solutions-based selling rather than price-led selling

Backgrounds That Transfer Well

  • Equipment rental sales into industrial and construction job sites
  • Forklift and material handling sales and service
  • Heavy industrial equipment sales and service
  • Industrial inspection, compliance, or maintenance service providers
  • Parts and aftermarket sales into industrial accounts

Direct crane experience is not required. If you already call on maintenance managers at industrial sites and sell service alongside equipment, your experience transfers directly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Precision Sales Recruiting?

Precision Sales Recruiting is a veteran-owned manufacturing and industrial B2B sales recruiting firm based in Fort Worth, Texas. Precision Sales Recruiting places sales professionals exclusively for manufacturing, capital equipment, industrial distribution, and manufacturing technology companies across the United States.

What is The PRECISION Method?

The PRECISION Method is Precision Sales Recruiting''s proprietary candidate evaluation framework for manufacturing and industrial B2B sales professionals. It evaluates candidates across nine scored dimensions: Procedural, Resilience, Execution, Coachability, Image and Professionalism, Sales Identity, Initiative, Ownership, and Numbers. Every candidate is assessed through structured role play, a behavioral interview, and psychometric assessments before being submitted to a client.

Do I need to live in the Phoenix area?

Yes. The role is in the Phoenix branch every Monday and Friday and in the territory Tuesday through Thursday, so you need to live within a reasonable commute of the Phoenix metro. This is not a remote role.

Is this a hunting role or an account management role?

Both. You grow an established customer base and own its renewals, and you are also expected to open new accounts through outbound calls, on-site prospecting, and new inspection contracts. Candidates with only account management experience and no record of new business development are not the right fit.

Do I need overhead crane or hoist experience?

No. The strongest candidates often come from equipment rental, forklift and material handling, heavy industrial equipment, or industrial service sales. What matters most is experience selling to maintenance managers and plant leaders at industrial sites, comfort in field environments, and a track record of growing recurring service revenue.

How does commission work in this role?

Commission is paid on the capital equipment and inspection sales you book, on top of a base salary of $80K to $90K. Year 1 OTE is $140K to $150K at plan. Commission is earned on results; it is not a fixed or promised amount, and full plan details are reviewed with you during the interview process.

How much travel is involved?

Most of the work is local field sales across the Phoenix metro, with three days a week in the territory and two in the branch. Travel applies only to assigned territory two hours or more from the branch.
