Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Test Engineer to contribute to the continuous improvement of Manufacturing Test Equipment for our Energy Remanufacturing team. Primarily, you will aid in the improvement, optimization, and maintenance of test equipment for the Supercharging, Industrial, and Residential Energy lines that operate within our org. Additional responsibilities include supporting test equipment debugging tasks, continuous improvement of legacy test equipment and supporting hand over of new test equipment from the manufacturing development team.   • Maintain LabVIEW, Python, TestStand, and Golang production test software
  • Generate user interfaces (GUI's) as well as troubleshooting tools to improve the diagnostic capability of existing production test software
  • Optimize automated processes to minimize cycle time and maximize uptime
  • Validate using data-driven statistical approaches (such as Gage R&R, and Cpk)
  • Design and industrial electrical control panels which are NFPA79/NEC/UL508A compliant, and create electrical, pneumatic and fluid schematics
  • Develop test according to test procedures and specifications for both new make and Remanufactured components
  • Provide on-site support for test equipment deployment
  • Create troubleshooting and maintenance documents for testers
  • Work with a team of Technicians to acquire new instruments and build fixtures to aid in verifying factory test equipment is operating correctly

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience as a Manufacturing Test Software Engineer
  • Proficient in test data analysis and automation using tools such as JMP, C/C++, and Perl/Python in both Windows and Linux environments
  • Fluent in Golang, Python, and JavaScript, with a strong grasp of modern software development practices
  • Experienced with communication protocols including CAN, EtherCAT, and Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS)
  • Skilled in working with Linux-based systems, Docker containers, and version control tools such as Git, GitHub, or SVN
  • Familiar with data infrastructure and visualization platforms such as Telegraf, Kafka, and Grafana
  • Experienced in commissioning test equipment and identifying root causes across tester and product failures
  • Knowledgeable in debugging and working with communication protocols including CAN, Ethernet, and GPIB
