Job Summary

 

Georgia Power is seeking a Test Engineer I – Protection & Control (P&C) to join the P&C Field Services organization. This position serves as the training and development pathway into the Transmission Maintenance team. The selected candidate will spend approximately one year in Panel Quality Assurance (PQA) learning Protection & Control systems, testing procedures, quality assurance processes, and the operations of the P&C Field Services organization.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for recent engineering graduates or engineers with 0–5 years of experience who are interested in power systems, substations, protection and control, and electrical testing.

 

Key Responsibilities

·Develop and execute test plans for Protection & Control (P&C) systems.

·Perform testing to validate system performance, reliability, and safety.

·Analyze test data and identify performance issues or anomalies.

·Prepare detailed test reports and technical documentation.

·Collaborate with engineering, design, and field teams to resolve issues.

·Support troubleshooting and diagnostic activities for P&C equipment.

·Recommend improvements based on testing results.

·Maintain and calibrate testing equipment.

·Ensure compliance with industry standards, company procedures, and quality requirements.

·Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support field operations.

 

Required Qualifications

·Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

·0–5 years of engineering experience.

·Strong interest in Protection & Control systems, substations, and power systems.

·Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

·Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·Ability to work effectively with engineering teams, plant personnel, and vendors.

·Willingness to learn and develop within the P&C Field Services organization.
