Job Summary

The Testing Services Specialist is a fully competent professional contributor responsible for independently managing and coordinating assigned testing services and operational activities within Purdue Testing Services (PTS). Working under the general supervision of an Assistant Director of Testing Services, the Specialist manages day-to-day exam preparation and testing activities; analyzes testing information, approved accommodations, instructor directions, and operational requirements; and exercises professional judgment to identify and resolve testing, accommodation, technology, and logistical issues.

The Specialist independently manages competing priorities, moderately large complex projects, tight deadlines, and serves as a knowledgeable resource to students, instructors, Disability Resource Center staff, student employees, and campus partners by explaining and interpreting PTS policies, practices, procedures, and testing requirements to ensure alignment. The position evaluates, analyzes, and forecasts using available information related to student testing activities to prepare for testing administration needs, draws upon prior experience and knowledge of testing operations to determine and implement appropriate solutions, and recognizes circumstances requiring consultation with PTS leadership or other University resources. The Specialist contributes to the effectiveness of PTS operations by identifying, completing, and recommending minor enhancements to workflows, procedures, documentation, and systems; implementing approved changes within the positions area of responsibility; and providing guidance and assistance to student employees regarding established testing practices. The position maintains confidentiality, exam security, and compliance with FERPA, University requirements, approved student accommodations, and applicable testing standards.

This position is based in Indianapolis and follows a four-day, 40-hour workweek (Monday-Thursday).

The standard schedule varies based on the academic calendar:

• Academic Year: Monday-Thursday, 11:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m., including a one-hour break
• Summer: Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m., including a one-hour break

This schedule is designed to provide support during the hours that best meet the needs of the Indianapolis campus community. Candidates should be able to consistently work the established schedule.

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience

Qualified candidates will need:

• Bachelor's degree
• Two (2) years of related professional experience in testing administration, student support, higher education operations, administrative coordination, or a related area.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered in accordance with University guidelines.

Skills:

• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to work independently under general supervision and manage multiple priorities, assignments, and deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing and processing testing materials and information.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve moderately difficult operational, testing, technology, and logistical issues using professional judgment and prior experience.
• Ability to evaluate available information, determine appropriate solutions within established policies and practices, and recognize when circumstances require consultation with a supervisor or other University resource.
• Ability to interpret and clearly explain established policies, procedures, testing requirements, and operational practices to students, faculty, staff, student employees, and campus partners.
• Ability to identify and recommend minor improvements to processes, workflows, documentation, and systems and implement approved changes within the positions area of responsibility.
• Ability to provide functional guidance and assistance to student employees and support staff.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, exam integrity, and appropriate handling of sensitive student and testing information.
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and changing operational needs.
• Ability to learn and effectively use testing-management systems, learning technologies, and other systems required for testing operations.

Nice to Have:

• Experience working in higher education testing services, disability-related services, academic support, or student services.
• Experience using testing management, learning management, student information, or similar systems.

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $ 40,000 to $ 45,000. The final salary offer will be determined based on various factors, including internal equity, available budget, and relevant experience.
