St. Francis Xavier Catholic Schools is looking for a Theology teacher for Xavier High School.
Job Summary: The Theology Teacher is responsible for teaching theology to high school students and demonstrates the characteristics of a positive Christian role model. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in theology, a commitment to academic excellence, and the ability to engage and inspire students in the study of catholic religious principles.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Development and implement comprehensive curriculum plans for teaching theology, ensuring alignment with academic standards, curriculum of the U.S. Catholic Conference of Bishops and educational goals.
- Integrate catholic faith-based principles and values into daily instruction, helping students connect theological concepts with real-life experiences and ethical decision-making.
- Lead meaningful discussions on theological topics, encouraging students to explore diverse perspectives and engage in respectful dialogue.
- Design appropriate assessments to evaluate student understanding and progress in theology studies. Provide timely feedback to students to support their academic growth.
- Work collaboratively with a department to enhance student faith journeys through campus ministry experiences, parish involvement, and Christian service requirements
- Maintain open and effective communication with parents/guardians on students' progress and course objectives.
- Assist in additional duties including supervision, club moderating and event chaperoning
- Participate in professional development individually and with the entire staff
- Read and Follow the policies and procedures as defined in the Employee Handbook
The teacher must possess the following:
- Be a practicing Catholic
- Have a post secondary degree in Catholic Theology
- Posses 12 credits in teaching education as part of, or, in addition to degree.
