Our client is looking for a Tool and Die Maker to join their team. Our client specializes in precision metal fabrication, custom electronic enclosures, and deep-drawn components for a variety of industries.
The Tool and Die Maker will be responsible for designing, building, repairing, and maintaining precision tools, dies, molds, fixtures, and other equipment used in manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Design, build, modify, repair, and maintain precision tools, dies, molds, fixtures, and other production equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Set up and operate precision machining equipment, including mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses, and CNC machinery.
- Perform precision measuring and inspection using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measuring instruments.
- Troubleshoot tooling and production issues and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper fit, function, and performance.
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to develop and improve tooling and manufacturing processes.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on dies, molds, fixtures, and related equipment to minimize production downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of tooling repairs, modifications, maintenance, and production changes.
- Ensure all work meets established quality, safety, and dimensional standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company safety procedures.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- 7+ years of hands-on experience as a Tool & Die Maker.
- Demonstrated experience building, repairing, modifying, maintaining, and troubleshooting precision production tooling, including punches, dies, die components, fixtures, and related tooling.
- Strong toolroom machining background with extensive experience operating manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, and other precision machining equipment.
- Proven CNC machining experience, including programming, setup, and operation of CNC lathes and machining centers; Haas experience preferred.
- Experience with 4-axis machining, mill-turn equipment, and/or other multi-axis machining applications.
- Ability to take tooling components from engineering drawings or concepts through programming, machining, grinding, inspection, fitting, assembly, and production prove-out.
- Demonstrated ability to work with hardened tool steels and other materials commonly used in precision production tooling.
- Strong experience with precision measurement and inspection equipment, including micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, and other inspection tools.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T while consistently achieving tight dimensional and geometric tolerances.
