Job Description

Trade Compliance Specialist

The Opportunity:

In this role, you will apply deep expertise in export classifications and regulatory frameworks, including EAR and ITAR, to support the full lifecycle of export and import compliance from product design through delivery. You will evaluate trade compliance inquiries, provide clear and actionable guidance on product classifications, and support license determinations to ensure alignment with complex regulatory requirements. As a trusted subject matter expert, you will contribute to the development, enhancement, and maintenance of trade compliance processes and protocols that help safeguard the organization's obligations in a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.

You will partner closely with business units and program teams to operationalize trade control requirements and integrate them into day-to-day activities, ensuring regulatory considerations are embedded in workflows from the outset. Success in this role hinges on your ability to serve as a collaborative, relationship-oriented advisor who strengthens internal controls, drives awareness, and enables teams to uphold compliance responsibilities with confidence. By translating complex export regulations into practical, digestible guidance, you will help internal clients understand and manage their obligations while reinforcing a strong and consistent compliance culture across the enterprise. Due to the nature of work performed within this facility, U.S. citizenship is required.

What You'll Work On:

  • Assist senior staff in developing exportability guidance to meet business needs, as assigned.
  • Ensure program managers and internal clients receive necessary execution guidance and understand their export control responsibilities.
  • Classify products, software, and solutions for export purposes, using specialized expertise in encryption-controlled items under EAR and ITAR.
  • Maintain export license files and records in the compliance database to accurately reflect status.
  • Review and research export compliance issues raised by the business or senior management, and provide background analysis and recommendations for further action.
  • Provide analytical support for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the international trade compliance program, policies, and procedures.
  • Help with special projects and other departmental responsibilities, as assigned.

Join us. The world can't wait.

You Have:

  • 2+ years of experience in export controls, classifying products, software, or services for export
  • Experience building collaborative relationships with cross-functional stakeholders and influencing adoption of compliance controls across various organizational roles
  • Experience using Microsoft products, including Excel and SharePoint
  • Ability to analyze, research, and assess international trade regulations
  • Ability to establish, manage, and continuously improve trade compliance processes and protocols within an enterprise environment
  • Ability to be diplomatic, exercise sound judgment and discretion, and show initiative
  • Ability to work independently while also engaging effectively across teams
  • Ability to be flexible in prioritizing and managing competing tasks
  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with DECCS, SNAP-R, OCR, and ACE
  • Experience classifying encryption items and solutions under EAR Part 740 such as ENC or License Exception, and ITAR, including BIS encryption review and reporting requirements
  • Experience drafting export license applications and requests for use of license exemptions and exceptions in the context of government or technology sectors
  • Experience successfully embedding trade compliance protocols across enterprise operations through stakeholder engagement, training, and process design
  • Experience conducting internal investigations or ethics training, or working in a regulatory or government environment
  • Ability to display a collaborative, relationship-oriented approach to compliance work
  • Possession of strong interpersonal skills
