Overview

A high-performance trading and technology firm is seeking a Senior Trading Systems Engineer to join a small, fast-moving engineering team. The organisation operates across both traditional and digital asset markets, deploying quantitative strategies and automated market-making systems across multiple venues.

The Role

You will contribute to the development and operation of a high-performance, low-latency trading platform currently running in production. The roadmap includes expanding exchange connectivity, scaling trading capabilities, and enhancing system flexibility through dynamic configuration and improved tooling.

This role suits someone who enjoys working close to the trading lifecycle—optimising performance-critical paths, building exchange integrations, and taking ownership of production systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain integrations with multiple trading venues, including handling market data, order execution, and position management
• Profile and optimise system performance, focusing on latency and throughput across both network and compute layers
• Develop and enhance core trading platform components, including execution systems, order management, and configuration frameworks
• Support and operate live trading systems, improving observability, reliability, and incident response processes
• Collaborate directly with traders and quantitative researchers to translate requirements into robust production systems

Requirements

• Strong experience in systems programming with a focus on performance and concurrency
• Background in building latency-sensitive backend systems, ideally within trading or similarly demanding environments
• Experience integrating with trading venues, including order management and market data handling
• Proven ability to profile, benchmark, and optimise system performance
• Comfortable working closely with domain experts to deliver production-ready solutions

Desirable

• Experience with digital asset or decentralised trading environments
• Familiarity with Python or similar languages for tooling and prototyping
• Understanding of dynamic configuration systems for live environments
• Background in high-frequency trading or market making
