Program Description

The Training, Research and Evaluation Division develops, implements, and coordinates activities in each of these domains for Felton Institute. The division also provides training and technical assistance for behavioral health and social service community partners in California and other states, supporting the building of capacity across several areas including: fund development, program design and implementation, and outcomes assessment.

 

The Division creates and implements state-approved curriculum for our Peer Support Specialist (PSS) Training Institute, which provides the training for learners seeking peers support specialist certification. We also facilitate the Clinical Internship Training Program for interns placed in programs across the agency.

 

Job Description

A Peer Support Specialist Trainer will design, facilitate, and elevate our training initiatives for non-clinical peer practice specialists. This role requires the ability to bridge lived experience with structured instructional design and therapeutic principles for adult learners. The focus is on ensuring our peer learners are equipped to deliver high-quality, recovery-oriented support, and successfully complete the certification exam.

 

Specific Responsibilities

• Provide live (virtual and in-person) Peer Support Specialist training to learners in Sonoma County (.75 FTE) and across other Felton locations, as relevant (.25 FTE)
• Refine, design and implement experiential learning activities in support of the approved curriculum
• Review and score learner materials in the Litmos Learning Management System (LMS)
• Support learner success in their independent study activities in the Litmos Learning Management System (LMS)
• Support other Felton trainers, as needed  

Minimum Qualification

• Five years’ experience providing direct service to clients
• Two years’ experience as a trainer or facilitator (learning, skill-development groups, etc.) (preferred)
• Associate’s degree preferred, high school diploma (or equivalent) required

Job Type: Full-time

Work Schedule: Onsite, Travel to multiple work sites required

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary Range: $72,000-$75,000 Annually (DOE)
