Job Title: Transmission Engineer

Job Description

Join our team as a Transmission Line Engineer, where you will support transmission line and tower projects ranging from 69 kV to 500 kV. This role involves engineering and leading projects from conceptual design through construction support, providing technical leadership, and ensuring coordination across multiple disciplines. Candidates should ideally have a civil or mechanical engineering degree, with consideration given to electrical engineers who have relevant experience. Familiarity with PLS software is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, drawings, and scope documents for construction packages.
  • Lead and coordinate design engineers and technical staff to deliver projects effectively.
  • Review technical reports and engineering studies.
  • Coordinate with contractors, permitting agencies, and internal disciplines, providing construction and field support as needed.
  • Apply project management practices related to engineering quality, safety, and execution.
  • Contribute to multiple power delivery projects, ensuring timely and successful project completion.

Essential Skills

  • Proficient in transmission line design using the PLS software suite.
  • Strong knowledge of conductors, hardware assemblies, structure detailing, and bills of material.
  • Experience developing assembly, framing, loading, and design drawings for wood, concrete, steel, FRP, and lattice structures.
  • Familiarity with related electrical studies such as EMF, grounding, fault current, contaminants, and clearance analysis.
  • Ability to work with survey and GIS data and integrate it into PLS‑CADD models.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes including ASCE, ACI, IEEE, NESC, RUS, and GO‑95.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in team environments.
  • Experience interpreting geotechnical data for foundation design and embedment calculations.
  • Proficient with PLS‑CADD, PLS‑Pole, PLS‑Tower, L‑Pile, MFAD, and Microsoft Office.
  • EIT certification is ideal, PE is a plus.
  • 4-5+ years of experience preferred, with consideration for those with 8-20 years of expertise.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $46.00 - $74.00/hr.
