The Transportation Worker/Bus Driver is responsible for the daily support of the District's student transportation services. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant transportation operations, including route planning, driver communication, parent communication and student scheduling. The position supports the overall mission of the school district by promoting reliable access to educational services through effective transportation management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
Operate any and all school buses, including Special Education buses, on scheduled routes and/or on all types of trips in support of district approved activities, both within and out of school district boundaries
Perform pre-trip and post-trip bus inspections as required by State and District policy procedure
Maintain interior and exterior cleanliness of assigned district vehicles; sweeping, dusting, and washing
Add fuel, oil, and coolant as needed
Maintain control of student passengers as related to safety. Report unsafe acts or conditions which require the attention of supervisory personnel.
Complete forms, records and reports as required by State and District policy and procedures. Maintain an up to date seating chart on bus
Operate a school bus in accordance with the laws of the State of Arkansas and District policy and procedures
Wear appropriate attire to comply with District policy and procedures
Operate and maintain all school bus equipment and accessories including, but not limited to, fire extinguishers, highway warning kits, first aid kits, wheel chair lifts, and tie downs
Operate all hand and foot controls installed in the school bus as required by Arkansas State School Bus Specifications
Perform basic first aid as appropriate, which may include CPR
Maintain and complete legible and accurate forms, records, time sheets, accident reports, and other clerical type activities as may be required
Perform other school bus driver related duties as directed by District policy procedures
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and the general public
Notify transportation director if driver cannot perform assigned duty as early as possible so that a substitute can be notified to take your place
Upon student entry of bus, the driver must be present on the bus
Participate in all required screenings and tests
Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work unit can be met
Display professionalism in appearance, attitude, and actions

High school diploma or equivalent (required).
Experience in transportation, logistics, or school district operations preferred.
Must possess a valid Arkansas Driver's License with appropriate endorsements.
