Transportation Coordinator

The Transportation Coordinator has the primary responsibility of facilitating the movement of raw materials and finished goods throughout the Freshpet campus and to/from external partners. This includes scheduling and tracking shipments, scheduling dock appointments, and reacting to operational challenges. Coordinate with both internal and 3PL partners for Warehousing and Transportation.

• Review all transfer requests for requirements at each Freshpet facility. In this review you will understand inventory levels, manufacturing lead times, supplier lead times and determine the best route to exceed the needs of our internal customers.
• Decide on the carriers to use for each transfer, monitor the carrier's performance and communication. You will have the ability to make changes on the routing guide and communicate to the Sr. Transportation Manager.
• Work closely with the rest of the transportation team on developing and executing our transportation strategy and KPIs
• Create transportation strategy for transfers with Sr. Transportation Manager
• Create process improvement plans for our transfers to include cost savings projects that you will own and execute
• Will be trained by Distribution Services Manager on all other shipment process for outbounds to customer and inbounds from suppliers. This will include the routing guide, spot shipments, accessorial approvals, carrier decisions, customs documentation, process improvements and overall transportation needs. The Coordinators will serve as management back ups during holidays and PTO.
• Schedule appointments for movement within the Freshpet campus (between both production plants and storage warehouse).
• Manage shipments with 3PL Warehouses for all non-customer related freight. This includes transfers of both Finished Goods and Raw Materials, HPP shipments, and inbound shipments of Finished Goods
• Track all transfer shipments for on time pick up and on time delivery performance which is crucial for our carrier scorecard and KPIs
• Complete the transfer orders and receipts within our ERP and in our transportation management system

• Issue resolution with appointments at 3PL and Freshpet campus

Work Experience Requirements

• 1-2 years of experience in category management and/or warehouse, logistics, or supply chain roles.
• Proficient with MS Office suite
• Strong sense of urgency & attention to detail
• Excellent organization, communication, and follow-up skills

• Ability to self-direct and take constructive action in ambiguous situations

Education Requirements

• BS/BA in Supply Chain, Business, Management, or Logistics; or equivalent experience
