1 Revised August 2026 Job Title: Transportation Operations Specialist Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt Reports to: Transportation Director Pay Grade: Auxiliary TR3 Dept/School: Transportation Days Employed: 226
Primary Purpose: With oversight from the Transportation Director, coordinate daily routes and field trips to ensure that they are safe and all running as scheduled. Assist with daily transportation operations and support transportation personnel. Maintains data required for Texas Education Agency Transportation Reports; to include ridership, route descriptions and fleet utilized. Effectively facilitates and manages the flow of information pertaining to pupil data as needed. Maintains the highest level of professional communication with campus administrators, fellow employees and our community.
Qualifications: Education/Certification: High School Diploma or GED Certificate, Preferred Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License (Class B) With "S" and "P" endorsements Valid Department of Transportation DOT Physical Certification Valid School Bus Certification Card Acceptable criminal background record and pass state fingerprinting requirements Acceptable driving record as determined by the Department of Public Safety, Department of Transportation, and Texas Education Agency Texas Association for Pupil Transportation Official, Supervisor, Specialist or Trainer Certification, Preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills: Possesses operational/functional knowledge of computerized routing and field trip software. (TransAct preferred) Ability to work collaboratively with campus administrators, staff, students, and parents. Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. Experience with Microsoft Suite and/or Google Suite. Well-established student management techniques Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to accommodate a split shift schedule as needed based on operational needs. Ability to be available after hours for calls regarding emergencies on field trips.
Experience: Two years experience as a certified school bus driver.

3 Revised August 2026 Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is required to sit, talk, frequent walking, standing and reaching with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and color vision. Driving is required. Some night and Saturday work, irregular or extended hours required. On-call whenever drivers are transporting.
