Job Summary
The Transportation Planner will support day-to-day transportation planning, shipment tracking, carrier coordination, and delivery activities. The role will work with plants, warehouses, customer service, Sales, Supply Chain teams, and external carriers to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
The position will provide track-and-trace support for packaged truck operations, including food-related products such as starches, sweeteners, and texturizers.
Key Responsibilities
· Coordinate and monitor packaged truck deliveries.
· Track and trace carrier shipments and provide timely updates.
· Coordinate carrier utilization, scheduling, pickups, and deliveries.
· Work with plants and shipping locations to coordinate transportation activities.
· Communicate transportation issues, risks, and delays to stakeholders.
· Support transportation cost and service reporting.
· Work with Sales and Supply Chain teams to understand transportation requirements and make delivery decisions.
· Tender and manage transportation orders in SAP using tiered carrier rankings.
· Manage transportation orders from assigned plants and public warehouses.
· Build loads and monitor unrouted orders.
· Coordinate ship dates and delivery dates.
· Handle customer add-ons, broken loads, and changed loads.
· Log and approve carrier-invoiced costs.
· Work with Customer Service and Transportation teams to ensure pickup and delivery requirements are met.
· Identify and communicate transportation risks.
· Resolve basic transportation issues under direct supervision and escalate complex issues appropriately.
· Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications
· Experience in transportation planning or coordination.
· Knowledge of logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations.
· Experience with shipment tracking and tracing.
· Experience communicating with carriers and internal stakeholders.
· Ability to coordinate pickups, deliveries, and transportation schedules.
· Strong organization, follow-up, and multitasking skills.
· Strong verbal and written communication.
· Ability to identify transportation issues and escalate complex problems appropriately.
· SAP experience is preferred/required based on role responsibilities.
· Ability to collaborate effectively with Customer Service, Sales, Supply Chain, plants, warehouses, and transportation teams.
Education & Experience
· Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Transportation, Business, Supply Chain, or related field + 2 years of relevant experience, OR
· 4 years of relevant transportation/logistics experience in place of a degree.
· Experience in transportation planning, logistics, shipment coordination, or supply chain operations preferred.
