Surgical Affiliates Management Group Inc. (SAMGI) is seeking one full-time Trauma Medical Director (TMD) to lead the Trauma & Acute Care Surgery program at Los Robles Regional Medical Center, a Level II Trauma Center in Thousand Oaks, California.
The Trauma Medical Director will provide both clinical leadership and program oversight, working collaboratively with hospital administration, trauma program management, and surgical staff to maintain a high-performing trauma service. This role includes active clinical practice in Trauma and Acute Care Surgery while ensuring compliance with trauma center standards, quality improvement initiatives, and physician leadership within the program.
This is a high-acuity clinical environment supported by experienced Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and a Surgery Residency Program, with strong multidisciplinary collaboration and a commitment to trauma program excellence.

Trauma Medical Director Responsibilities
• Provide overall clinical leadership for the trauma program • Ensure compliance with ACS and state trauma center standards • Lead trauma quality improvement and performance improvement initiatives • Participate in and lead trauma program committees and multidisciplinary conferences • Collaborate with hospital administration and trauma program leadership on program development • Support physician engagement, recruitment, and clinical performance within the trauma service • Serve as a liaison between the trauma service, hospital leadership, and multidisciplinary teams
Key Clinical Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive Trauma and Acute Care Surgery clinical care • Respond to Tier I and Tier II trauma activations • Perform trauma and emergency general surgery procedures • Manage ACS consults and operative cases • Participate in daily inpatient multidisciplinary rounds • Collaborate with and supervise Advanced Practice Providers • Actively participate in surgical resident education • Provide post-operative outpatient follow-up care

Qualifications
• Board-Certified in General Surgery • Board-Certified in Surgical Critical Care (SCC) • Minimum five (5) years post-fellowship clinical experience • Current or recent experience practicing at a Level I or Level II Trauma Center • Prior leadership experience within a trauma program preferred • Eligible for California medical licensure • Strong clinical judgment in high-acuity trauma and emergency surgery environments • Commitment to trauma program leadership, team-based care, and surgical education
