Description

American Traveler seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist with at least 1 year of acute care experience and stroke experience for a Magnet-designated acute care hospital.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting within the Speech-Language Pathology department, Magnet-designated facility with 426 staffed beds
• Sees 8-10 adult and geriatric patients per day
• Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
• Works 2 weekend shifts per month (Saturday-Sunday), not necessarily consecutive
• May float and see patients across the facility and potentially to sister facilities nearby
• Epic EMR used for charting
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of acute care experience required
• Stroke experience required
• Must be able to perform Modified Barium Swallow Studies
• FEES certification and MBSImP strongly preferred but not required
• Epic EMR experience required
• BLS certification required
• CA state license required (license required if applicable)
• May apply with a pending CA license if proof of submission is provided
• First-time travelers considered if acute care experience requirement is met

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include dysphagia management, bedside swallow evaluations, compensatory strategies, and diet modifications
• Conducts and interprets Modified Barium Swallow Studies and may conduct/interpret FEES
• Provides care for patients with CVA, dysphagia, dysarthria, TBI, voice disorders, and tracheostomy/ventilator-dependent patients
• Utilizes adaptive equipment such as Passy Muir valves, communication boards, and memory aids
• Provides patient and family education and monitors for signs of abuse
• Collaborates within an interdisciplinary acute care team
• Free parking available on-site
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
• Returning staff may be eligible to return after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside outside the 50-mile radius
• RTO requests must be submitted at the time of application
• Facility may cancel one shift per two-week pay period
