Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for a BMT Oncology unit requiring chemotherapy certification and ONS/ONCC credentials.

Details

• Inpatient Oncology/BMT unit within a Magnet-designated, teaching, Level I Trauma hospital
• 4:1 patient ratio with an average daily census of 30 across 32 beds
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required throughout the Oncology department based on need, not limited to home unit
• Care includes autologous stem cell transplants and chemotherapy administration
• EPIC charting system used, experience preferred

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Chemotherapy certification and ONS/ONCC certification required
• Minimum 1 year of Oncology/chemotherapy nursing experience required
• Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
• Skilled in chemotherapy administration, port access/management, and central line/PICC line care
• Experience with blood and blood product administration and central line blood draws
• Competent in IV starts/maintenance, antibiotic and antiemetic administration
• Foley catheter insertion/management and isolation precautions experience required
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation skills required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for BMT and oncology patients including stem cell transplant recipients
• Administer and monitor chemotherapy, manage oncologic emergencies, and recognize/manage treatment side effects
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Must have facial hair compliant with respirator fit testing standards or be willing to shave
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
• Travelers may work up to an 18-month period before requiring a 3-month break in service
• Former permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's facilities must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
