Job Summary
Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular Nurse - Towson, MD. This role involves providing specialized care to postoperative cardiac surgery patients, including those with hemodynamic instability, extreme coagulopathy, or on advanced cardiac support devices. The position requires flexibility, strong clinical skills, and the ability to work night shifts within a dynamic critical care environment.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Maryland RN license or applicable compact license, BLS, CPI, and ACLS certifications; 0 years of experience minimum; location in Maryland.
- Preferred Qualifications: 2 years of ICU cardiovascular experience; previous charge nurse or leadership experience preferred.
- Float: Float to Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MSICU) may be required as needed.
- Additional Information: The unit handles postoperative cardiac surgery patients, including CABG, MVR, AVR, TAVR, mitral clips, STEMI/NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, and patients on ECMO or Impella devices. Candidates must be comfortable managing complex hemodynamics, invasive procedures, and a variety of advanced cardiac interventions. Certification in CPI is required as part of compliance, with other certifications such as NIHSS, OCN, PALS, and TNCC preferred. Onboarding includes completing required labs within 72 hours of contract signing, with a compliance deadline of five days prior to start. Travelers must be comfortable floating within scope and adhering to local travel policies, including a maximum of 7 days for requested time off and being away at least six months if a return traveler.
