Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN Case Manager for an acute care hospital setting, requiring 2 years of acute hospital case management experience and a CA RN license.

• Acute hospital Case Management/Utilization Review department
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• Required to work every other weekend
• Floating between like units required based on facility need
• Epic EMR used for charting
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active CA RN license (compact license must be in hand at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of acute hospital case management experience performing care coordination and discharge planning
• Epic charting experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred, though first-time travelers may be considered with manager approval
• Experience with admission criteria, appeals and denials, benefits eligibility, care coordination, discharge planning, needs assessment/DME ordering, and prior authorizations
• Familiarity with CMS, DRG, HIPAA, and The Joint Commission regulatory standards
• Experience across specialties including Emergency Department, ICU, Med-Surg, Pediatrics, and SDU/PCU/IMC/Obs preferred
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsible for care coordination, discharge planning, needs assessments, DME orders, and prior authorizations
• May assist with worker's compensation case management and regulatory compliance duties
• Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities within the system
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All requested time off must be submitted at the time of application, as post-submission RTO requests may not be accommodated
• Local candidates accepted, though a 50-mile radius rule applies for eligibility at the standard pay rate
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• First-time travelers may be considered with clinical manager approval
• Free parking available on the first day, with assignment parking details provided during orientation
• Located in Eureka, California, offering easy access to coastal areas and several state and national parks
