Job Summary
Registered Nurse, Intensive Care Unit, Duluth, MN. The organization is seeking an Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive care to critically ill patients, including stroke and cardiac patients. The role includes rotating 12-hour day and night shifts, collaboration with the healthcare team, patient and family education, discharge planning, and floating between critical care and lower-acuity units based on census and operational needs.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: Associate Degree or Certificate; Minnesota Registered Nurse license; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC), required at submission; National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification; minimum of 1 year of acute care experience within critical care.
- Preferred Qualifications: Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification; Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification; experience with Epic charting; one travel assignment; critical care experience within the past 3 years.
- Schedule: Rotating 12-hour shifts with variable day and night scheduling; 36 hours per week.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information: The Registered Nurse will assess patient conditions, identify and communicate changes from normal, document and communicate patient information, address patient and family education needs, initiate discharge planning, provide age-appropriate care, oversee stroke and cardiac patient care, support applicable core measures, recognize and report abuse and abnormal diagnostic data, participate in purposeful nursing rounds, select appropriate supplies, and complete follow-up activities. The role includes rotating weekends, every other holiday, and potential on-call or call-back responsibilities. Royal blue scrubs are required.
