Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized peri-anesthesia care in a 28-bay Main PACU unit serving patients across the full lifespan and spectrum of acuity, 24/7/365
• Deliver vigilant pre- and post-operative care to inpatients and outpatients undergoing scheduled or emergency surgery across more than 20 surgical and procedural services
• Demonstrate competency in titration of vasopressors, airway management, care of ventilated patients, blood product administration, and fluid resuscitation
• Maintain a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio; patient population spans pediatrics through geriatrics (agency nurses will not be assigned as primary nurse for true pediatric patients but may be asked to assist a permanent team member)
• Participate in on-call requirements: 1–2 call shifts (12 hours each) per 4-week scheduling cycle
• Float within specialty as needed; work holidays and weekends as scheduled (3 weekend shifts per 4-week cycle required)

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in Maryland or a valid Compact RN license at time of submission
• ACLS (AHA only) and BLS (AHA only) required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; first-time travelers are accepted
• Strong ICU background required
• Previous charge RN experience required
• Must reside 50 or more miles from the facility to be eligible; locals under 50 miles are not accepted unless the posting specifically states otherwise

Preferred Experience / Skills

• PALS certification (AHA only) preferred
• NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
• Experience caring for a broad mix of surgical and medical specialty patient populations
• Comfort with rotating day/night schedules and flexible departmental scheduling needs
