Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring a minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience and hands-on proficiency with advanced cardiac support devices including Impella, IABP, and CRRT.

Details

  • Work setting is a hospital Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU)
  • Patient population includes fresh open heart surgery cases (CABG, MVR, AVR, TAVR), ventilated patients, chest tube and lumbar drain management, and patients with chronic and acute renal failure
  • Patient ratio is 1:1–2; ratios may vary when floating
  • Equipment used includes Impella, IABP, CRRT (Prismax), Swan, Flotrack, temporary pacers, arterial lines (A-lines), and chest tubes
  • Charting is done in Epic
  • Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
  • Every other weekend and applicable holidays required
  • Floating required to all ICUs, PACU, ED (for ICU holding patients), and all IMC units

Requirements

  • Active NJ or Compact RN license required
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of current CVICU experience required; SICU experience may be considered with initial CVICU training
  • Proficiency with advanced cardiac support devices (Impella, IABP, CRRT using Prismax) or experience with fresh open heart cases required
  • Required clinical skills include post-op open heart recovery, Swan-Ganz catheter management, Flotrack, temporary pacers, A-lines, and chest tubes
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • Two current professional references required
  • Copies of certifications required

  • Former staff (full-time or PRN) of the RWJBH health system must have been separated from the system for a minimum of 1 year before being eligible for a travel assignment
