Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring a minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience and hands-on proficiency with advanced cardiac assist devices and post-op open heart recovery.

Details

Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) setting within an acute care hospital
Patient population includes fresh hearts, ventilated patients, patients with chest tubes and lumbar drains, and those with chronic and acute renal failure
Patient ratio is 1:1-2; ratios may vary when floating
Specialized procedures and monitoring include post-op open heart recovery (CABG, MVR, AVR, TAVR), Swan-Ganz catheterization, Flotrack, temporary pacers, arterial lines, and chest tubes
Advanced cardiac device experience required, including Impella, IABP, and CRRT using Prismax
Charting is performed in Epic
Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
Every other weekend and applicable holidays required
Floating required to all ICUs, PACU, ED (ICU holding patients), and all IMC units

Requirements

Active NJ or Compact RN license required
Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
Minimum 2 years of current CVICU experience required; SICU experience with initial CVICU training may be considered
Experience with advanced cardiac assist devices such as Impella, IABP, and CRRT using Prismax — OR — experience with fresh heart cases is required
Proficiency in post-op open heart recovery including CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR procedures
SSN and DOB required for consideration
Two current professional references required
Copies of certifications required

Former RWJBH staff (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the RWJBH health system for a minimum of 1 year before being eligible for a travel assignment
