Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position requiring prior cardiac and neuro experience, Epic proficiency, and an active SC or Compact RN license.
Details
- Work setting is an acute care hospital CVICU with 276 staffed beds
- Patient population includes complex cardiovascular and neurological ICU cases
- Patient ratio is 1:2
- Schedule is nights, 3x12s, 7p–7a with every other weekend requirement and holiday rotation
- Epic EMR is used and experience is required
- Floating within scope is required, consistent with staff nurse expectations, with travelers floating first
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active SC RN license or Compact RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered but must be fully licensed prior to start
- Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA-issued only); NIHSS required; CCRN preferred
- Minimum 1 year of CVICU or equivalent ICU experience required (2 years preferred)
- Cardiac and neuro ICU experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
- Key required skills include: IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, ventilator management, care of ventilated patients, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, CVVHD/CRRT, ECMO, IABP, pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring, CVA/acute stroke management, and continuous IV paralytics/sedation
- SSN and driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted for this position
- Previous permanent or PRN staff of the MUSC health system must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront; RTO requests submitted after the offer process will not be accepted
- Pre-assignment orientation modules are required and completed prior to the start date
- Royal blue scrubs are required
- Free parking is available on-site
- Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November, with peak activity in August and September), all staff and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams
