Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Cardiovascular ICU night shift position requiring Epic experience and cardiac ICU background.

Details

• Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
• Weekday and some weekend shifts required, up to 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period (Friday/Saturday for night shift)
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• Estimated patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications required, NIHSS also listed
• 2 years of Cardiac ICU experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skills required: IV starts, telemetry, ventilator management, Swan-Ganz/PA line monitoring, conscious sedation, intra-aortic balloon pumps, and PA lines
• Experience with arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, ABG interpretation, ventilator management, and suctioning
• Cardiovascular skills including CVP monitoring, CABG care, epicardial pacing wire management, IABP, sheath removal, TAVR, and post cardiac surgery care
• Experience managing CRRT/CVVHD and acute/chronic renal failure preferred
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and emergency medications
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; a Charge RN is acceptable for the second reference, but coworker references are not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to cardiovascular ICU patients, including those post cardiac surgery and cardiac catheterization/intervention
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred but first-time travelers may be considered
• Must complete Ohio BCI and FBI fingerprinting promptly after accepting an offer, including lifetime background checks
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment only after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible for travel positions
• RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
