Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring 2+ years of cardiac ICU experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) setting at a heart hospital
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Estimated patient ratio of 1:1-2
• Weekday and some weekend shifts required, with up to 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (Friday/Saturday for nights)
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Care for patients with CABG, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, VAD (LVAD/RVAD), ECMO, and IABP
• Manage Swan-Ganz/PA lines, arterial lines, central lines, and epicardial pacing wires
• Perform IV starts, conscious sedation, and ventilator management
• Pre/post cardiac cath and intervention care

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• 2+ years of cardiac ICU experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line and central line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with chest tube assistance, BiPAP/CPAP, and ventilator management
• Competency in managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction and cardiac dysrhythmias
• Skilled in 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition and interpretation
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Two professional references required, including at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct bedside care to critically ill cardiovascular and post-cardiac surgery patients
• Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips as well as continuous IV sedation
• Monitor and manage patients on nurse-driven ECMO protocols where applicable
• Support care for patients with acute/chronic renal failure, including CRRT/CVVHD as needed
• Complete Ohio BCI and FBI fingerprinting promptly upon offer acceptance due to strict compliance timelines
• RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible for travel assignments
• Previous travel experience preferred but not required
